  2 to 3 more years. Braces and aligners. $300,000 or more.

• Oral and maxillofacial surgeon

  4 to 6 more years, sometimes with a medical degree. Wisdom teeth, jaw surgery, implants.

• Pediatric dentist

  2 to 3 more years. Kids only.

• Endodontist or periodontist

  2 to 3 more years. Root canals, or gums and implants.
