A typical day

A patient every 45 to 60 minutes, 7 to 9 a day. Each visit: update the medical history, check for gum disease and cavities, take X-rays, scale and polish, apply fluoride, coach the patient on brushing and flossing, chart it all. The dentist comes in for a 5-minute check. Lunch is often the only long break.
