A typical day

Experiments run on their own schedule, so your day is built around them: start a cell culture or a reaction in the morning, run a gel or a column in the afternoon, read results in the evening. Between those blocks you are analysing yesterday's data, reading papers, and in a company, writing up results for the next project meeting. Plenty of experiments fail. The skill is figuring out why without losing a month.
