A typical day

On a salmon site you are up early, out on the pens checking nets, moorings and mortality. Feeding runs through the day, controlled from a barge with underwater cameras so you can see when the fish stop eating. You sample fish for weight and health, count sea lice, log everything and fix whatever failed overnight. Weather cancels some tasks and adds others. At a hatchery it is quieter and indoors: tanks, water chemistry, grading and moving young fish.
