A typical day

Twenty to thirty patients. A child with a suspected peanut allergy gets skin prick tests on the forearm and you read the welts after 15 minutes. A teen with hives that will not go away. An adult whose asthma keeps flaring. A supervised food challenge where a patient eats small doses of egg while your nurse watches for a reaction, with epinephrine ready. Allergy shot patients come and go all day. Charting and letters to family doctors fill the gaps. Home by dinner.
