A typical day

Up before the guests. Check the weather and the avalanche or river forecast, pick a plan and a backup, load food and safety gear. Morning briefing, then you are with the group for eight hours, watching pace, hydration, the weakest person and the sky. You tell stories, fix a blister, adjust a harness, turn the trip around when conditions change. Back at base you clean gear, write the trip log, debrief incidents and prep tomorrow. Then you eat dinner with the same people you just guided.
